ABOUT MAINSTREET WAYNESBORO
The downtown area is the heartbeat of any town. Here at Mainstreet Waynesboro, our mission is to secure grants and sponsorships that help create more economic opportunity, support efforts to revitalize our downtown center, and help build a stronger sense of community.

ORGANIZATION
Build partnerships among diverse groups, like property owners, merchants, residents, bankers, public officials, and civic groups, to work together toward a common goal—the improvement and maintenance of our downtown.

PROMOTION
Work to rekindle community pride and improve consumer and investor confidence in our downtown district. Advertising, retail promotions and special events with a focus on downtown’s unique characteristics, business establishments, and activities to attract shoppers, potential business and property owners, and visitors.

DESIGN
Create a safe, inviting environment for shoppers, workers, and visitors through attention to visual elements such as buildings, storefronts, signs, public spaces, parking areas, landscaping, merchandising, window displays and promotional materials. Other goals include developing good maintenance practices, enhancing the district's physical appearance through the rehabilitation of historic buildings, encouraging sensitive design management and long-term planning.

ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING
Strengthen Waynesboro’s existing retail district while attracting new businesses to provide a balanced commercial mix in our downtown. This committee works to help merchants sharpen their competitiveness, and to convert unused space into economically viable enterprises. The goal is to build a commercial district that responds to the needs of residents or visitors.

HOW MAINSTREET WORKS
Governed by a volunteer board of directors and with the guidance of our Director of Economic Development, Mainstreet Waynesboro operates on the Four Point Approach developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Main Street Program. This approach relies on four committees that work on building a sustainable and complete community revitalization effort.
Each committee is made up of a core of dedicated, talented and enthusiastic volunteers, without whom Mainstreet Waynesboro could not function. New volunteers are always welcome!
